CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR NEEDED!

Greyback Construction Ltd. has an immediate opening for a full-time senior estimator with a minimum of 10 years experience in commercial, multi-residential, institutional, and industrial construction, and knowledge of labour productivity. Must be proficient with computer estimating software.

The main responsibilities for this position include:

  • Detailed quantity take-offs and preparation of estimates and budgets for tendered and negotiated jobs
  • Assemble bids and meet bid closing deadlines
  • Sub-trade pricing and issuing of sub-contracts
  • Scheduling
  • Estimate review and cost analysis
  • Developing and maintaining database systems for pertinent estimating and budgeting information

Carpenters
The Carpenter is expected to build, remodel and assemble various construction projects for the company where duties include layout, form building, rough framing and inside and outside finishing. Carpenters must have the ability to work from blueprints – or create their own building plan – and plan the work schedule to coordinate with other departments to ensure timely completion of the project. Required qualifications include:

  • Recognized Carpenter Journeyman Ticket (Interprovincial or Provincial)
  • High school diploma or GED with some experience directly related to the duties specified.
  • WHMIS certificate
  • Valid British Columbia Class 5 drivers license


Carpenter Apprentices
The Apprentice Carpenter is expected to learn to build, remodel and assemble various construction projects for the company. Required qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED with some experience directly related to the duties specified.
  • WHMIS certificate
  • Valid British Columbia Class 5 drivers license

Concrete Finishers
The concrete finisher is expected to place and finish concrete on many different types of residential, industrial and commercial projects. The concrete finisher is responsible for inspecting the prepared sub-base in order to ensure that it is ready to receive the concrete, and must be able to "read" the concrete as it sets and apply the appropriate finishing technique at the appropriate time. Good vision, hand-eye coordination, and an ability to estimate size and dimensions are essential assets. Required qualifications include:
  • Recognized Concrete Finisher Journeyman/Journeywoman (Interprovincial or Provincial).
  • High school diploma or GED with some experience directly related to the duties specified.
  • Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • Valid British Columbia Class 5 driver’s license.



 

 

Apprenticeship

Greyback Construction Ltd. indentures up to 40 apprentice carpenters at any given time and we fully support and encourage our employees in their apprenticeship studies. Apprentices and prospective apprentices who have been with our company for at least six months, and who are recommended by their supervisors, will have their apprenticeship tuition costs paid for by Greyback Construction Ltd. We welcome quality employees who are looking to further their training by pursuing their Journeyman ticket, and want to help them achieve their goals.
