Apprenticeship

Greyback Construction Ltd. indentures up to 20 apprentice carpenters at any given time. We fully support and encourage our employees in their apprenticeship studies. Eligible are apprentices and prospective apprentices who have been with our company for at least six months, and who are recommended by their supervisors. We welcome quality employees who are looking to further their training by pursuing their Journeyman ticket and want to help them achieve their goals.

Greyback is seeking an energetic construction labourer to join our dynamic team. Under the direction of a site supervisor, you will assist skilled tradespersons in performing a variety of construction tasks at our various project sites throughout the Okanagan Valley.

Examples of tasks include:

  • Loading/unloading construction materials, and moving materials to work areas
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites
  • Mix, pour and spread concrete
  • Assist carpenters in construction activities
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel
  • Assist in demolishing buildings using prying bars and other tools, and sort, clean and pile salvaged materials
  • Site clean-up; remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment, pile and tarp materials
  • Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed
  • Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.

The construction labourer position is based on 40 hours/week with a starting wage of $20/hr
