Many carpenters across the Okanagan found their “this is it” moment at Okanagan College that point when a project came together and a future in the skilled trades suddenly felt real.
Employers like Greyback Construction see the impact of that training every day. They’ve hired many OC-trained apprentices over the years and are currently sponsoring 16. One of them is second-year apprentice Miranda Allen, who started in the Carpenter-Joiner Foundation program at OC and is now gaining experience at the Skaha Hills development in Penticton.
Greyback Construction’s Graham Boots, himself an OC-trained Red Seal carpenter, shared:
“A career in carpentry opens many doors in the construction industry. At Greyback Construction, our certified carpenters often advance into leadership roles such as lead hand, superintendent and project manager.”
With new Carpentry and Carpenter-Joiner Foundation intakes beginning in January 2026 offered in Penticton, Salmon Arm and Kelowna, learners can access hands-on training, supportive instructors and a pathway to strong job prospects.
