Greyback provided Construction Management services for  a new wood-frame 13,000 sq ft Emergency Services building to replace the existing firehall.

With this project, Nakusp became the first community to follow through on its “Wood First” pledge.

"The new Emergency Services Building, destined to become a training hub in the Arrow Lakes region, includes a fire hall, search and rescue centre, ambulance station and regional training centre.

It includes features and construction material secured and milled locally.

Wood WORKS! is a national industry-led initiative of the Canadian Wood Council, with a goal to support innovation and provide leadership on the use of wood and wood products.

The province’s Wood First Act, seeks to increase demand for wood products by requiring provincially-funded projects to use wood as the primary building material."

The training centre fills a regional need for community-based training, allowing staff and volunteers to maintain and improve their skills locally, minimizing expensive travel costs. It also enhances the well-being of Nakusp and surrounding communities.
